Better Sex Tonight, Experience the Full Body Orgasm

Tantra uses sexual energy to expand awareness and experience ecstasy. It teaches people how to move their sexual energy from their genitals, up to the top of their head, and everywhere in between, allowing the entire physical and energetic body to become ecstatic. When the sexual energy reaches the crown it can expand a persons awareness of the mystical realms, allowing them to recognize they are Divine Consciousness in human form.

A full body orgasm is the experience of feeling your whole body vibrating with orgasmic energy. This can be done outside of a sexual context as well as while making love. Anyone can learn how to have a full body orgasm by following the steps below.

7 steps for opening the central channel of bliss:

1) Stand with your knees hip width apart and slightly bent.

2) Breathe through your mouth and deep into the belly, allowing it to expand begin activating your sexual energy.

3) Once you have master the belly breath you can increase the intensity by inhaling as if you are sipping through straw. Exhale with an open mouth and release a deep sound from the belly. Sound also intensifies the expansion of energy.

4) Now, allow your pelvis to begin rocking. Keeping the knees bent, let your pelvis rotate freely. As you inhale rock the hips back, arching the small of the back. As you exhale, tuck the tail bone under, flattening the small of the back. Breath, sound and movement are the 3 keys to opening the body to bliss.

5) Next, add the PC pump. As you inhale squeeze the pelvic floor muscles pulling them upwards and as you exhale let them relax back down. It feels a bit like you are trying to stop and start a stream of urine. These are sometimes called Kegel exercises.

6) Put all the steps together. As you inhale imagine you are breathing the energy up from your root to your heart. Practice this until you feel the energy pulsing from your root to your heart. You can play with speeding up and slowing down your respiratory rate.

7) Once you have mastered connecting root and heart move the energy up to the crown. Practice until you can feel the energy flowing from your root to your crown. See yourself as a rainbow bridge of light connecting Earth and Sky.

This is a wonderful way to get your energy flowing. Once the central channel is open you are ready to learn how to expand your energy and experience The 3 Steps to Full Body Orgasm:

1) The shaking reflex helps you recognize that your body is made of ecstatic energy which you can stimulate and expand whenever you want to. You learn to experience orgasmic energy outside of a sexual context and discover that you can awaken your own pleasure body with out genital contact.

The practice-You begin by standing with your feet hip width apart and knees bent. Allow your thighs to begin to vibrate side to side. Allow the vibration the spread up and down the body until your whole body is vibrating. It is helpful to do this with music, I recommend Osho's Kundalini Meditation CD.

2) The bliss response is the process of being relaxed in high states of arousal. You learn to become a bigger container for ecstatic energy and to relax fully letting the energy naturally expand. The effect is one of sexual excitement and deep peace. When you master the bliss response you move beyond the genital orgasm and discover the full body orgasm.

The practice- After several minutes of allowing your whole body to shake, lay down on the floor with your knees bent and your feet close together. Let your knees gently fall apart like a butterflies wings opening. Allow your body to relax fully and continue to open and close your knees. This process allows the ecstatic energy to spread throughout the body. This is best done listening to gentle, relaxing music.

3) Once you mastered opening the central channel of bliss and have experienced the full body orgasm outside a sexual context you can introduce these practices into your love-making and explore them within a sexual context. Sex becomes an alchemical experience that transforms the physical body into the Bliss Body.

Transforming the Shadow into an Ally in 6 Steps

When we look into the light, a shadow is naturally cast behind us. This shadow is largely ignored, hidden from our awareness. When we seek spiritual enlightenment, we often ignore the negative aspects of ourselves and of life. The focus is on “love and light.” This is one the blind spots that I see in the New Age Movement. This is called "spiritual bypass."

In order to awaken, we need to recognize and transform that which lies hidden, in what Carl Jung called, "the shadow." Normally, we are blind to these disowned parts within our psyche. Instead, we project them onto others. When we see our shadow in them we react strongly—either by fearing them, judging them or in the case of the "shiny shadow," worshipping what we see. We often labeling them as angry, bossy, selfish or the opposite beautiful, brilliant or gifted.

Below is a 6-Step Process for transforming your shadow into your ally. This practice is inspired by discoveries I made in doing my own shadow work and while working with clients. It was further validated and expanded after I was introduced to the book, Feeding Your Demons by Tsultrim Allione. I was delighted to discover that the process I had developed was very similar to an ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice called Chod.

Step 1: Enter Your Sacred Garden and Find the Cave of Transformation

See yourself standing before the gate of your Sacred Garden. Notice the size shape and texture of the gate. Enter your garden now! Notice the path beneath your feet. Allow your senses to become activated. Explore your garden. Notice it the sights, sounds, smells, and textures. What type of garden are you in? Is it formal or wild? Is it vast or small? Does it have a particular theme--such as Japanese, English or a Balinese Temple Garden?

Now direct your attention to finding a cave that is here in your garden. This is the Cave of Transformation. Focus your attention on the path and allow yourself to be guided to where the cave is located. As you enter the cave you will notice that it is lit by a soft glow emitted from the walls and air around you. Explore the cave until you find an area with a pool. Near the pool notice there is a comfortable place to sit down.

Step 2: Finding the Shadow

Sit quietly and take 7 deep belly breaths. Ask, "How has the shadow been showing up in your life recently?" It may take the form of a repeating pattern in your life that you react to with aversion or attraction. Call this shadow-part to you in the Cave. Allow it to take form in front of you. Notice its size, shape, color and texture. Does it feel hot or cold? Does it make a sound? Does it have a smell?

Step 3: Allow the Shadow to Become Personified.

Once the initial form is clear, invite it to become personified, by giving it eyes, a mouth, arms and legs. Let you imagination be free to produce the image. Accept what shows up, even if it seems weird or silly. Don’t let your rational mind censor what is being revealed. This makes it easier for you to communicate with it. Next, you are going to communicate with your shadow to learn about its perspective, how it experiences life.
Ask your shadow these two questions. 1.) What do you need? 2.) How will you feel if you get what you need? In order to discover the answers to these questions you are going to step into the body/form of your shadow.  Now, ask the two questions out loud.

Step 4: Become the Shadow and discover what it needs.

You are now going switch places with the shadow and take on its form and perspective.  As you step into the shadow feel its shape, size, form and energy. Let the shadow answer the first question aloud, in the first person. What I need is . . .

In this process you want to discover what the shadow needs, not what it wants. Often, the first answer is a want, instead of the deeper need. Giving it only what it wants, addresses the symptoms and not the need. Once it states the need, make sure and clarify that this is what it needs, not just what it wants. Until the underlying need is met, the shadow will continue to operate in the dark.

Now, ask the second question. How will you feel if you get what you need? This is the deeper question that will reveal what this shadow-part needs in order to be transformed.  Here is an example- If this shadow-part's issue is control, it might answer: “I will feel like I can trust life fully.” Then you will give this shadow-part trust. By giving it the trust its desires, rather then the control it wants, the shadow is transformed.

Step 5: Transform the Shadow and Meet the Ally

The time has come to transform the shadow. Return to your body. Take a moment to settle back into your own awareness. See the shadow-part in front of you. Notice the Pool of Transformation near by. Walk over to the pool, use your intention and transformed water into the essence of what the shadow told you it would feel when its need was met. The pool can be transformed into whatever quality or emotion is needed such as, truth, love, power or compassion. For example, if it said, “I will feel like I can trust life fully." See the pool as the essence of trust and the shadow-part absorbing it fully.

Invite the shadow-part to enter the Pool of Transformation. See the shadow drinking in what it needs through its mouth or through the pores of its skin, or taking it in some other way. Imagine that there is an infinite supply of this essence, and that the pool's essence is unlimited. While the shadow bathes in the pool, watch it carefully, as it most likely will begin to change. When the shadow-part has taken in everything it needs until it is completely satisfied, it frequently shape-shifts into a new form, it may become something completely new or disappear into mist.

The ally may appear as an animal, human, mythic god or bodhisattva. Always ask, Are you my ally?  If it replies, no, then invite another ally to appear. When you see it clearly, take a few minutes to communicate with your ally. Discover what gifts it has for you. How you connect with it in the future? Finally, ask it to become one with you and merge together.

Step 6: Return Home

When the ally has been integrated, dissolve into spacious Awareness, which may feel like emptiness, freedom or being whole, even if this experience lasts only briefly, it is a returning home to the Self. Offer gratitude and leave the cave. Make your way back through the garden to the Gate. Step through it, back into this room, this moment. When you are ready open your eyes.

By reclaiming our shadow, we not only find more love and compassion for others, we tap into vast new resources within ourselves. These resources can enrich our lives and relationships. I hope you found this practice helpful.

7 Benefits of Sexual Healing for Women

What is sexual healing? Sexual healing is the art of resolving the sexual shame, guilt and fear held in the bodymind. When sexual shame, guilt and fear are denied, repressed or ignored,  they can led to physical symptoms such as chronic vaginal or bladder infections, decreased libido, painful intercourse, PMS, painful periods and difficulties in navigating the transition into menopause. They can also cause psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and love/sex addiction.

Trauma held in the genitals can begin early in life due to insensitive potty training, especially if it involves physical or emotional abuse, or when children are shamed for their natural curiosity involving genital touch, masturbation or “playing doctor.”  Trauma can occur due to feelings of fear or shame around puberty- wondering if you are developing normally or being made to fear menstruation as “the curse.”

When this trauma is held in the body, it creates a contraction or holding in the tissues called “body armoring”, which prevents the natural flow of energy, awareness and sensations. When this holding is experienced in the sexual organs, it is called “genital armoring”. Some common causes of sexual trauma for women are medical procedures such as pelvic exams, abortion, childbirth and hysterectomy. More severe forms of genital armoring are caused by trauma from unwanted sexual advances, especially rape and/or incest, as well as from religious guilt related to sex outside of marriage, unhealthy sexual boundaries while being intoxicated and having unwanted sex out of a sense of obligation, to name a few.  Even people without any overt sexual trauma can develop milder forms of genital armoring due to conditioning from our sex-negative culture - which simultaneously glorifies sex on the one hand while condemning it on the other.

As mentioned above, genital armoring can cause a variety is sexual problems in women, including decreased sensation in the clitoris and vagina, lack of vaginal lubrication, painful intercourse, hypersensitivity to touch and/or an inability to feel pleasure or orgasm during sex, as well as, psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and/or love and sex addiction. Often, these health issues are not recognized as being directly related to sexual wounding.

Instead of the root cause- sex wounding, being address directly, the symptoms are given a medical diagnosis and treated with drugs. For many women, this leads to years of feeling that something is fundamentally wrong with them, because the treatment is focused on symptoms instead of on the armoring in the bodymind. Occasionally, a woman may seek out or be referred to a psychotherapist to address emotional issues related to sexual trauma. Unfortunately, most psychotherapists have not healed their own sexual wounds, so their ability to facilitate sexual healing maybe ineffective or, at best, limited. If a woman is fortunate enough to find a therapist who is adept at addressing her sexual issues, she is still faced with the limitations of psychotherapy, addressing the psycho-emotional aspects of sexual healing and ignoring the physical and energetic trauma still held in the body.

Sexual Healing can take a variety of forms. On rare occasions, it can occur spontaneously. It has been known to happen during various types of breathwork sessions. It can occur during energy work, such as reiki- sometimes intended, sometimes as an unexpected side-effect. The most powerful forms of sexual healing holistically address the body/mind/spirit aspects of sexuality while utilizing hands-on sexual healing. There are a variety of modalities that use holistic hands-on sexual healing to address sexual trauma and genital armoring. These include the SkyDancing Tantra™ Pelvic Healing and Multi-Orgasmic Response processes, Sacred Spot Massage, Pelvic Heart Integration, to name a few of the more well-known modalities. These modalities require training and experience. They are best done by an experienced practitioner.

However, sexual healing for women, at its most basic, simply involves touching the “Yoni” (a Sanskrit term for the female genitals) either physically or energetically with presence and compassion. Because genital touch is almost always associated either with sex or a medical procedure, having your Yoni touched with awe and reverence, specifically for your benefit, can be a powerful and life-changing experience. The woman whose Yoni is being held in this way surrenders as fully as possible into the experience. She is invited to remain open, curious and present throughout the process. She is encouraged to communicate what she is feeling and is free to express and release what has been held in her Yoni. As the genital armoring is released, the area may be flooded with feelings of warmth, pleasure, irritation, emotion, orgasmic energy or a sense of vast spaciousness. Eventually, there is a natural sense of completion. The temple gate of the Yoni is “closed” by placing the palm of the hand over the entrance of the vagina with great presence and sensitivity.

A few of the benefits of sexual healing for women are:
1)      Feeling more ease and openness in the body.
2)      Improved quality and quantity of her orgasms.
3)      She invites pleasure through sensuality and sexuality.
4)      Being more present and authentic with herself and others.
5)      The ability to live in the flow which enhances overall health and well-being.
6)      A renewed connection her true nature as unconditional love and freedom.
7)      Letting go of mental, physical and emotional blocks related to shame, guilt and fear.
